The Weeknd just released a new single, “Heartless,” and a lot of its lyrics seem to point toward his relationship with Bella Hadid.Hadid and The Weeknd were then spotted in Soho alongside Bellas sister Gigi and mom, Yolanda, signaling their seals of approval for the relationship. It was first reported that the pair were dating in 2015 after they were spotted together at Coachella, but they didn’t confirm their relationship until months later. Despite the fact that they were on-and-off throughout their time together, fans couldn’t get enough of Bella Hadid and The Weeknd‘s whirlwind romance.
The last time they were “on” was in August of 2018, but the two have since split up again.The singer’s heart-thumping song deals with multiple themes, from money (“All this money and this pain got me heartless”), fame (“Photoshoots, I’m a star now (Star) / I’m talkin’ Time, Rolling Stone, and Bazaar now (’Zaar)”), and sleeping around with different girls (“Hundred models gettin’ faded in the compound / Tryna love me, but they never get a pulse down”). For a refresher, Hadid and The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, had been dating on and off since 2015. They've been dating on the down-low for 4 months but last night clearly wanted it known. Leaving a club hand in hand.
Still, despite the reunion, another line in this verse indicates that a happily ever after isn’t in the works: “I don’t do well when alone.” Getting back together with an ex because you’d rather not be by yourself doesn’t exactly make for a picture-perfect ending (been there, done that).Suffice to say that The Weeknd is pouring his heart out in his new music. His proclamations of his own heartlessness are interrupted by a conversation with an unknown woman, who sees the good in him despite what he’s done.I’ll never know what you see (Why won’t you?)Naturally, many have speculated that this verse points to Hadid, especially with the line, “You just came back in my life.” Hadid and Tesfaye reunited one last time in the summer of 2018, after Tesfaye and pop star Selena Gomez broke up.
